Miracle Match Marathon 1/31/2010
posted January 31, 2010
The alarm went off early this Sunday. The Miracle Match Marathon was today and it was a brisk 29 degrees at the start. I am not sure how many Marathons use cyclists for support of the event, but this run definitely has a few cyclist that help out. I have been involved with this event for about 4 years and it is always fun. The runners do not seem to mind the fact that they have someone riding in front of the lead runner making sure they do not make a wrong turn on the course. Several of our club member have helped in the past. This year was no exception. We even had one member running in the event. This years event took place earlier than in the past and the turnout was a lot better. It seems as though the runners like the cold. There was even a BAREFOOT division! One runner, an Austin Fire Fighter, ran in his bunker gear.

Notice the feet of the runner. He ran the marathon barefoot in freezing weather.
